Poland: new Massenza Mi8 drill rig on truck for mineral exploration
July 2024: the new Massenza Mi8 drilling rig has officially left our headquarters, headed for Eastern Europe. More specifically, it is destined for Poland.
Our new client requested a drilling rig capable of operating in various fields, from geotechnical applications to mineral research and core drilling in mines.
And here we are, presenting a machine equipped with the brand-new TM9M multipurpose rotary head with 8 gears, designed to perform at its best for both water wells and shallow or deep coring.
Think that’s not enough? Hold on tight, because on the same machine, you’ll also find the rotary table, hydraulic chuck, and rods loading arm.
In this way, we have met all the buyer’s requirements, while ensuring the operator can rely on the rig’s performance and enjoy ease of use for daily operations.

Before delving into the technical features of this new Mi8 drilling rig for geotechnical applications and coring, let’s first focus on the innovations incorporated into the machine:
- Hydraulic chuck: mounted under the rotary head and used to speed up the loading and positioning of drilling rods.
Free Passage: maximum 157 mm. It is also possible to use different diameters depending on the client’s needs. - New Massenza Drilling Rigs TM9M rotary head:
Maximum torque: 17137 Nm – Maximum speed: 704 RPM – Maximum tilt: 80° - Rotary table: for casing with a maximum diameter of 324 mm and free passage of 335 mm, back force of 20 tons and pull up force of 10 tons.
This rotary table allows for optimal and fast handling of the drill pipes on site.
The rotary table is easily removable.
Technical Details of the Massenza Mi8:
- Drill rig power supply: through a power take-off directly connected to the truck engine
- Hydraulic Control Panel: mounted on the drilling arm, with adjustable height extension
- Mast: capacity of 150 kN, mast height 7 m, mast for 4.5 m rods
Max. up and max. pull down: 119 kN - Winch: maximum direct pull up of 31 kN – wireline winch
- Double hydraulic clamp: maximum passage diameter of 370 mm
- Automatic rods loading Arm – capacity for 30 rods
- Duplex Mud Pump and Triplex Water/Mud Pump
- Automatic SPT Penetrometer
In the following months, our drill rig reached the customer’s premises, where it was customized with company stickers, ready to carry out its first jobs on site and continue to be used for several years.
